Hood Race Team and Meadows Race Team. Racers who are not members of a Mt. Hood team, but associated with a team, i.e. sibling or relative, may compete in a Mt. Hood race as an independent.
Entry Fees: There is NO entry fee for member racers of a Mt. Hood Mitey Mite Council Team. Racers associated with a team (independents) will pay a $10.00 entry fee for each day of racing. Make entry fee checks payable to the host club (see entry form).
Entry Deadline: Race entries must be received 4 days prior to the race to be included in the draw (usually by Wednesday). Race-day entries will compete at the end of their age class for all runs. Mail or submit entries as per the instructions on the entry form.
Release Forms: Parent or legal guardian must sign and submit the proper release forms with the race entry!
Racer Classification
There are four age classes: 8 & under, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, and 13 years of age. (See 13 year old eligibility below.) The age of the racer as of December 31st will apply for the entire season.
General Race-day Procedures
Unless otherwise announced by the host team, race start time is generally 10:00am for all Mt. Hood area races. Race registration begins at 7:30am.
Mitey Mite Council SL races will be conducted with “Hero” gates. When "Hero" gates are used the outside pole of an open gate or a single closed gate will be eliminated. The exception is the Diamond Dual SL, which will be conducted with full-length SL poles.
Racers 8 years & younger will usually have their own race course and race-day schedule at Mitey Mite races. Bibs must be returned after each race. A fine may be assessed to the racer, or the racer's team for a missing/lost bib.
Parents are asked to help with each race.
Spectators (parents) must stand outside the arena.
Competition Rules
USSA rules apply unless otherwise stated.
The Race Jury will oversee the proper conduct of the competition. The Jury will be lead by the Referee, who will be elected from the visiting coaches. The Chief of Race and the Chief of Course, provided by the host team, are the other two members of the Jury. The Race Jury will have the final say regarding all competition disputes and racer disqualifications.
Reason for disqualification will be noted, however, protests will not be allowed.
Courses are closed to competitors except during inspection time.
Unsportsmanlike conduct is a basis for disqualification.
Protective head gear is required for all races.
13 Year-old Racers
Eligibility: J3 Mitey Mites from Council teams may compete in PNSA Junior races held on Mt. Hood and any PNSA J3 Series event. Mitey Mites who compete in other PNSA Junior races held off of Mt. Hood (that are not J3 Series events) will become ineligible to compete in Mt. Hood Mitey Mite Council races.
Awards: 13 year-old Mitey Mites will receive awards for 1st - 3rd place.
Mt. Hood Mitey Mite Council Annual Awards
The Mitey Mite Council will award both individual and team trophies for overall season performances. All Council races will be counted, as long as all race runs were concluded. The scoring will be by "old World Cup points" awarded to the top 15 finishers of the race (1st = 25, 2nd = 20, 3rd = 15, 4th = 12, 5th = 11, 6th = 10…. 15th = 1). Points are only assigned to J4 and J5 racers, and assigned regardless of class. (Younger racers will be purged from the scoring.) The Annual Awards will be presented on the final day of racing at the Council's Spring Festival.
Individual Trophies: The top J4 girl and boy, and the top J5 girl and boy, will receive the Council's Annual Awards. All points earned from all Council races will be counted.
Team Trophies: The top women's team and the top men's team will be awarded, individually, using the same World Cup Points awarded for the individual trophies. However, only the top four scores from a team, at any single race, will be counted. The Team Trophies are perpetual awards that travel to the winning team. It is the responsibility of the winning
team to update the trophy's engraving.
